Strategy:
The Idea
Logo Design / Brand Guidelines / Collateral Design / Rebranding Services Zoetropes are one of the earliest animation devices, and today they're being reinvented through modern 3D-printed forms. I was tasked with raising awareness of the facilities available in the AUB (Arts University Bournemouth) workshops, so I chose to let the tools speak for themselves. Using the machinery on-site, I designed and 3D printed a series of figures that animate seamlessly when placed in a Zoetrope.
Production Process
A wide variety of tools and processes were used to develop the project, from 3D modelling to hand-captured stop-motion animation. These included:
· 3D Modelling on Autodesk Fusion, printed with Bambu Lab X1.
· Carousel development on Adobe Illustrator, fabricated with CNC router.
· Flame animation created on Adobe Illustrator, fabricated using Trojec Speedy Laser Cutter.
· Zoetrope details created on Adobe Illustrator / Photoshop, printed on large format card.
· Promotional assets created on Adobe InDesign, printed on large format paper.
· Stop-motion animation filmed on Nikon D3300, edited on Adobe Lightroom.
The Model
The model is designed to replicate the architectural design on the workshop building. The model is organised into 3 tiers, each reflecting the activities/tools placement within the building. The details such as brickwork and column support also reflect the buildings architecture. This added a layer of authenticity to the design, almost how the workshop would look it you removed it's walls (and then spun it around really fast).
Marketing
A series of promotional posters were developed to be displayed across the university campus, to advertise the resources and inductions available to students. These incorporated a brand new logo, type identity and colour scheme for the workshops. A new website and instagram page were also developed, creating consistency across all brand assets.
